SHOOTING ROCK STARS FOR CHARITY

                                           #achickandhercamera

A Boston-based artist and photographer put her magic to good use, helping others in need, Leslii Stevens took off armed with two Nikon cameras for a charity art endeavor. Utilizing her artistic sensibilities and skills as a photographer Leslii somehow found herself behind the lens and right in front of some of her all-time favorite rock stars. So for four years, she traveled on a bus with some of the most amazing souls, capturing some truly magical moments. Leslii created a series of gallery showings of her concert photography.  and all the profits went to the charity chosen by the subject of the photograph.

Leslii is an artist and philanthropist as well as a photographer. She approaches her photography as art, and with a desire to do something good for others. Toward that end, she has created this project to benefit those in need.

Giving turns our focus away from ourselves.  Instead of the usual thought pattern of “How can I benefit from this?” or “What’s in it for me?, the question of the day is more like, “How can I create a little happiness for someone?” or “How can something I do let someone know, with no strings attached, that kindness is still present in others?” This project is centered on giving rather than taking.  Taking or receiving is what we do when someone gives us a gift.  It’s certainly what drives most dreams — we go out and claim it, make it happen, both are forms of taking.  But giving — the ability to give — is a gift unto itself.

By asking the artists involved to choose a charity they feel strongly about, Leslii is promoting that which the artists care about with little effort on the artists' part.
