30 Days of Kindness & Gratitude Challenge
Day 23 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge
Be Kind to the Planet 🌍
Today, we turn our focus outward to the earth that sustains us. Practicing gratitude isn’t just about relationships with others; it’s also about the relationship we have with our planet.
Small Actions, Big Impact
Going eco-friendly doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It’s about simple, intentional choices that show kindness to our environment. Here are some ideas to inspire your day of eco-gratitude:
-
🌱 Skip single-use plastics and opt for reusable bags, bottles, and containers.
-
🚶♀️ Walk or bike instead of driving for errands close to home.
-
💡 Save energy by unplugging devices when they’re not in use and switching to LED bulbs.
-
🛍️ Shop local to reduce carbon footprints and support small businesses.
-
🍃 Compost food scraps to turn waste into nourishment for the earth.
Make It a Mindful Practice
Before taking any action, pause and reflect on why it matters. Whether you're swapping out a plastic water bottle for a reusable one or choosing to carpool, think about the ripple effect of these small decisions.
Let’s inspire each other to make a difference one small step at a time.
Together, we can show gratitude to the earth every day, not just during this challenge. 💚

Day 22
Take a Mindful Breath
Welcome to Day 22 of the 30-Day CoyDog Gratitude Challenge! Today's focus is all about finding a moment of calm through mindful breathing.
Why mindful breathing?
In the hustle of everyday life, stress can creep in without us even noticing. It might show up as tension in your shoulders, a racing mind, or that tight feeling in your chest. Taking a deep, intentional breath is a simple yet powerful way to pause, reset, and reconnect with the present moment.
Here’s a quick practice for mindful breathing:
-
Pause. When you feel overwhelmed, stop for a moment.
-
Inhale deeply. Breathe in slowly through your nose, filling your belly with air like a balloon.
-
Exhale slowly. Let the breath out gently through your mouth, releasing any tension you feel.
-
Focus on peace. As you breathe, think of something that brings you joy or comfort—a favorite memory, a loved one, or a serene place in nature.
Even one mindful breath can shift your perspective, giving you a moment to step back and approach challenges with clarity.
Bonus challenge: Try this for 2-3 minutes today. Maybe pair it with your gratitude journal—write down what came to mind during your breath. Was it a sense of peace? A person or moment you’re thankful for?
When we slow down to breathe, we remind ourselves that stress is temporary and that within us lies the ability to calm our minds and bodies. Today, let your breath be your anchor.
Share your practice!
Tell us about your mindful moment using the hashtag #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge and inspire others to pause and breathe. Let’s keep cultivating gratitude, one breath at a time.
You’ve got this. ✨
Day 21
Gift a Book
Share Inspiration, Share Joy
Welcome to Day 21 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge! Today’s theme is “Gift a Book.” 📚
Books have the power to change our perspective, offer us comfort, or spark new ideas. They’re treasures that connect us to worlds beyond our own and sometimes, to people in unexpected ways.
Your mission today:
Think of a book that has inspired you, helped you heal, or simply brought you joy. Then, pass it on to someone who might need its message—whether it’s a friend, a family member, or a stranger.
Not sure where to start? Here are some ideas:
-
A novel that made you feel seen.
-
A self-help book that lifted your spirits during tough times.
-
A memoir that moved you to tears.
-
A cookbook (Ayurvedic recipes, anyone? 😉) that added flavor to your life.
Sharing Gratitude Through Stories
When we gift books, we’re not just giving paper and ink; we’re sharing a piece of our journey and inviting someone to walk alongside us. Write a personal note inside the cover or include a bookmark with a message explaining why this book is meaningful to you.
Spread the Love!
After you’ve gifted your book, let us know! Snap a picture of the book or share its title and why you chose it. Use the hashtag #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge and inspire others to join the movement.
Let’s fill the world with stories that matter, one book at a time. ❤️
Day 20
Share an Inspiring Story of Gratitude
Gratitude has a way of showing up when we least expect it and sometimes, it arrives disguised as struggle. For me, it came during a moment when life knocked me down, literally.
Years ago, while on tour as the media photographer for the Experience Hendrix group, I was at Austin City Limits chasing the perfect shot of Zakk Wylde shredding his guitar. I slipped and injured my knee so badly that it later required surgery. At the time, it felt like a cruel twist of fate. That injury didn't just end my ability to move freely for months it paused my life.
But it also set me on a completely different path. That knee injury was the moment I found yoga. What began as a way to heal my body transformed into a journey that healed my mind, my heart, and, eventually, my entire life.
Through yoga, I learned how to slow down, breathe through the discomfort, and find strength I didn’t know I had. It helped me uncover my purpose teaching, guiding, and connecting with others through movement, mindfulness, and self-love. Without that fall, I might never have discovered this incredible passion.
So today, on Day 20 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge, I invite you to reflect on your own moments of struggle. Can you find gratitude for the twists and turns that led you to where you are now? Share your story. You never know who might need to hear it.
Together, we can inspire gratitude in every corner of our lives. 💛 #CoyDogBotanicals #GratitudeChallenge #YogaJourney #Inspiration
Day 19
Reconnect with Nature
Welcome to Day 19 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge! Today's focus is all about stepping outside and immersing ourselves in the beauty of nature. Whether you’re standing barefoot in your backyard, hiking a local trail, or simply sitting on a park bench watching the leaves dance in the wind, nature offers a unique kind of therapy free of charge and available to everyone.
Why Reconnecting with Nature Matters
Spending time outside isn’t just refreshing; it’s healing. Studies show that being in nature can lower stress levels, improve focus, and even boost creativity. When we pause to notice the world around us the sway of trees, the chirp of birds, or the rustle of leaves we allow our minds and bodies to sync with the rhythms of the earth. It’s a reminder that we are a part of something much larger than ourselves.
A Moment of Gratitude
Take a moment to breathe deeply, close your eyes, and tune in. What do you hear? Smell? Feel? Let yourself soak in the sensations. Today is about appreciating what’s already around you the simple yet profound gift of nature.
Ways to Reconnect
Go for a walk: No phone, no distractions—just you and the path ahead.
Practice mindfulness outdoors: Find a quiet spot and listen to the sounds of nature. Can you hear birdsong? Wind? Water?
Get your hands dirty: Dig into a garden, plant something, or simply touch the earth.
Create something inspired by nature: Write a poem, snap a photo, or sketch the view.
Sit still and observe: Watch how the light changes, how the breeze moves, and how life unfolds around you.
Share Your Experience
We’d love to see how you reconnect with nature today. Snap a photo, share a story, or post your reflections on social media with #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge. Your moment might inspire someone else to step outside and do the same.
Nature is always here, waiting to ground us and remind us of what truly matters. Let’s give ourselves the gift of reconnecting today.
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
🌿 Let’s rock this planet by appreciating the natural beauty around us!
Why 30 Days of Kindness & Gratitude?
Day 18
Compliment Yourself
A Self-Love Shoutout
Welcome to Day 18 of the 30-Day #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge, where we dive into the awkwardly delightful task of complimenting yourself.
Yep, you heard that right today is all about you. Not your dog, not your plants, not the neighbor who made you brownies that one time (though we’re still grateful for them). This is your time to shine, so grab that mirror, look yourself in the eye, and channel your inner rock star.
Why complimenting yourself matters:
Let’s face it, life throws enough curveballs our way. Complimenting yourself is like being your own hype squad. It’s about acknowledging what makes you uniquely awesome, quirks, imperfections, and all. Think of it as an emotional high-five or a glittery gold star for being you.
Your Task:
Write down three things you love about yourself.
It could be:
-
The way you can make people laugh until they snort.
-
Your ability to parallel park like a boss (that’s a skill, okay?).
-
Or maybe it’s how you’re basically a walking encyclopedia of random trivia that no one asked for but secretly appreciates.
-
No compliment is too big, small, or ridiculous. The point is to give yourself some well-deserved credit.
Leslii’s Example (because I’m not just the challenge host...I live this!):
1. I love sharing yoga in a way that brings both movement and laughter, because sometimes, those creaky knees just need a little humor to get going
2. My ADHD superpower turns chaos into creativity (seriously, it’s like alchemy).
3. I’ve got the kind of resilience that would make a phoenix jealous.
Now it’s your turn! Write, post, and tag #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge to join the conversation.
Let’s keep this gratitude train rolling. And remember: you’re worth every single compliment you give yourself.
Ready to rock this planet?
Day 17
Be Generous
#CoyDogGratitudeChallenge
Generosity is one of the simplest ways to bring joy, not just to others, but to yourself. Acts of kindness ripple out in ways we can’t always see, turning ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. Today, let's embrace the spirit of "paying it forward."
Here are a few ideas to inspire your generosity:
1. Buy Someone's Morning Treat: Whether it’s a coffee for the person in line behind you or a muffin for a coworker, this simple gesture can brighten someone’s day.
2. Cover a Toll: Leave a smile behind by paying for the car behind you at a toll booth.
3. Leave a Generous Tip: Go above and beyond when tipping at your favorite café or restaurant. That extra bit might mean more than you know.
4. Write a Gratitude Note: Leave a kind message for a teacher, friend, or stranger who’s made a difference in your life.
5. Donate an Hour of Your Time: Help a neighbor, volunteer at a shelter, or spend time with someone who could use a listening ear.
6. Surprise Someone: Leave flowers on a coworker’s desk, a small gift on a friend’s porch, or a positive review for a local business you love.
Generosity doesn’t have to involve money or grand gestures.
Sometimes, just holding the door open, sharing a smile, or listening with your full attention is enough to change someone’s day.
Challenge:
Share your act of generosity in the comments or on your own social media with #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge. Let’s spread inspiration and kindness together!
“The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Generosity connects us all. What’s one small way you’ll pay it forward today?
Day 16
Practice Patience – The CoyDog Way 🐾
Welcome to Day 16 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge, where today’s theme is “Practice Patience.” Now, before you roll your eyes and mutter, “Yeah, right. Patience is a myth,” stick with me for a minute.
Patience is one of those things that sounds easy on paper but feels impossible in the middle of traffic when the car in front of you is testing your will to live by not understanding the purpose of a turn signal. It's a skill like parallel parking or eating tacos without spilling anything on your shirt (still working on that one myself).
But here’s the thing: every time you practice patience, you’re building a little more resilience in your brain and body. Yes, even when you’re waiting for your phone to update while muttering, “Why do I even need this new feature?”
Here’s Your Challenge:
Today, notice when you feel rushed, frustrated, or ready to snap. When you catch yourself in that moment, pause. Take a deep, slow breath (maybe two or three). Then, ask yourself:
1. Do I really need to freak out about this?
2. What would happen if I let go of the urge to rush?
3. Why is this coffee line moving at the speed of a glacier? (Okay, maybe not that one...)
You’ll discover that patience is less about the other person or situation and more about how you respond. It’s a Jedi mind trick you can play on yourself. And the best part? Nobody has to know you’re doing it.
Bonus Tip:
Show yourself some patience too. Didn’t get everything on your to-do list done? No problem. Can’t master crow pose yet? You’ll get there. Think of yourself as a work-in-progress masterpiece and who doesn’t love a good plot twist?
So today, take a beat, take a breath, and maybe even laugh at life’s little hiccups. You’ve got this. And if you don’t? Well, there’s always tomorrow.
😉
Let’s rock this patience thing, CoyDogs! 🐕✨

Day 15
Gratitude Share
Welcome to Day 15 of the #CoydogGratitudeChallenge !
Today’s challenge is all about connection. Your task? Share something you're grateful for with your family or friends whether it’s through a heartfelt conversation, a quick text, or a post on social media.
Gratitude is powerful, but sharing it can be transformative. When we open up about what fills our hearts, we create ripples of positivity that inspire those around us. Sharing gratitude strengthens relationships, deepens connections, and fosters a sense of belonging.
Here’s how to get started
In Person: Pull someone aside and tell them how much they mean to you or why you’re thankful for them. A simple "I appreciate you for..." can brighten someone’s day.
Online: Post a photo, story, or short message about something or someone you're grateful for.
Use the hashtag #CoydogGratitudeChallenge to keep the good vibes flowing.
Written: Write a note, email, or card to a loved one and share your gratitude in words they can hold onto.
Sharing gratitude is like a warm hug for the soul it feels good to give and to receive. Plus, you might just inspire someone to pause and reflect on what they’re grateful for too.
Reflection Question for Today
What’s one way sharing your gratitude strengthens your relationships?
Remember, gratitude is contagious. Let’s spread it far and wide!
Day 14
Volunteer Your Time
Welcome to Day 14 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge! Today, we’re taking gratitude into action with “Volunteer Your Time.” Here’s the heart of this day’s mission: it’s about giving an hour (or more if you can!) to a cause that lights you up, lending your energy to something bigger than yourself. Whether it’s at a local shelter, community garden, food pantry, or even helping a friend who needs a hand, this is your chance to step up and make a difference.
Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you” it’s about living it. When we give our time, we show that we’re grateful for what we have by sharing it with others. Acts of service help us connect deeply with our community, ourselves, and the larger world around us. And hey, if you're on the fence or wondering what you can offer, remember: your time, skills, and compassion are some of the most valuable gifts you can give. Just an hour can change someone's whole day (and yours too).
How to Join Today’s Challenge
1. Choose a cause, organization, or person you’d like to help.
2. Set aside an hour (or more) to volunteer or lend a hand.
3. Share your experience on social media using #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge if you’d like, to inspire others to give their time as well!
Let’s get out there and rock this planet with kindness, showing gratitude through action. Give an hour, and let’s make the world a little brighter, one small step at a time.
Day 13
of the 30-Day #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge, we’re focusing on
supporting a local or small business!
This day is about celebrating the spirit and resilience of our local community—small businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods, providing unique products, services, and experiences you just can’t find anywhere else.
Today, try to visit a local business, shop online from a small brand, or recommend a small business you love. Whether it’s a cozy coffee shop, a wellness studio, a family-run restaurant, or an artisan making handmade products, every small purchase helps build community strength and keeps these vital businesses alive and thriving.
Why It Matters
Supporting local or small businesses has a ripple effect. When you buy local, you’re directly contributing to job creation, community sustainability, and a thriving, diverse economy. Small business owners are often passionate about what they do, and your support makes a real difference in their ability to continue providing for the community.
Share Your Support
As part of today’s gratitude challenge, take a moment to share a shoutout for a local or small business you supported. Use the hashtag #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge to help spread the love and maybe even inspire someone else to check them out!
This day is all about giving back to those who pour their heart and soul into their businesses.
Support CoyDog Botanicals & Yoga
For Day 13 of our #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge, why not support our small business with some CoyDog gear? By purchasing a CoyDog hoodie, tee, tank, or pair of sweatpants, you’re supporting our mission to bring wellness, movement, and mindfulness to our community and you’ll have a stylish, comfy reminder of your role in our journey!
Wear Your Gratitude
Every piece of CoyDog apparel is designed with love, reflecting our passion for wellness, courage, and connection. Each purchase supports our work with yoga, Ayurveda, and community wellness projects, helping us make a positive impact every day.
We’re grateful to everyone who’s part of this journey—thank you for representing CoyDog and supporting small!
Thank you for joining in!
Day 12
Make a Kindness Jar
Today, we're creating a Kindness Jar! This simple project can become a heartwarming ritual that helps you notice kindness all around you. Each day, jot down a note with a kind act you did, witnessed, or even received, and drop it into your jar. Over time, this jar will fill with little reminders of the kindness that colors your world and on challenging days, it’ll be your go-to source for a positivity boost.
How to Get Started:
1. Find Your Jar – Grab an empty jar, container, or even a small box. If you're feeling crafty, decorate it with bright colors or positive words to make it uniquely yours.
2. Create Your Notes – Keep small slips of paper or sticky notes handy, so each day you can quickly jot down moments of kindness.
3. Drop It In – Write down one kind act each day. It could be something as small as holding a door open for someone, calling a friend who needed a pick-me-up, or seeing a stranger help someone in need.
4. Watch It Grow – With each note, your Kindness Jar will fill up. By the end of the month, you'll have a full collection of reminders that kindness is all around you!
Ideas to Fill Your Jar:
Need inspiration? Here are some simple acts of kindness that can brighten someone’s day (and your jar!):
-
Compliment a stranger.
-
Offer to help a friend with a task.
-
Give a family member or coworker your full attention—no distractions.
-
Smile at everyone you pass today.
-
Bring a treat or a cup of coffee to a neighbor.
-
Check in on someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
-
Share a resource or book with someone interested in a topic you know well.
Let's make kindness a habit and fill this jar with beautiful memories!
Day 11
of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge
Help a Stranger
Today’s gratitude challenge is simple yet powerful: Help a Stranger. Whether you hold a door, carry a bag, offer a smile, or give an extra moment of kindness, small gestures can brighten someone's day in ways we may never see.
Since today is also Veterans Day, let's take an extra moment to recognize those who have served. If you cross paths with a veteran, take a moment to express gratitude for their service. Many veterans continue to serve their communities long after their time in the military, and showing appreciation is a small way to honor their sacrifices.
Helping a stranger reminds us that we’re all connected, even to those we don't yet know. A moment of kindness can ripple out further than we might imagine. Thank you for taking part in today’s challenge and for sharing your light in someone else’s day.
#CoyDogGratitudeChallenge
Day 10 of #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge:
Share Positivity
Today, we're spreading positivity far and wide! Your challenge is to share an uplifting message or quote on social media that will inspire, motivate, or simply bring a smile to someone’s face. Here's a quick prompt to get started:

Day 9
of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge: The Gratitude Walk
Today’s challenge is all about stepping outside, taking a breath, and going for a Gratitude Walk. This isn’t just any walk it’s about moving slowly, noticing the beauty around you, and giving thanks for all the simple joys that are often overlooked. Whether it’s the warmth of the sun, the rustle of autumn leaves, or the sound of birds nearby, this walk is an opportunity to connect with nature, ground yourself, and feel truly grateful.
Here’s how you can make the most of your Gratitude Walk:
1. Start with an Intention: Before you begin, set a gentle intention for gratitude. Think of one thing or person in your life you’re grateful for and keep it in mind as you walk.
2. Notice Your Senses: Tune in to what you see, hear, smell, and feel. Notice the way the ground feels beneath your feet, the colors around you, or even the scent of fresh air.
3. Pause and Reflect: Find a spot to pause maybe on a bench or by a tree. Take a few deep breaths. Think of three things in your immediate surroundings that you feel grateful for. This could be as simple as a favorite tree, a friendly dog, or the quietness around you.
4. Invite Joy: If there’s something on your walk that makes you smile, spend a moment with it. Allow yourself to savor the feeling and really let it sink in.
5. Express Your Gratitude: If you’re comfortable, bring a small notebook or your phone to jot down a few words about what you felt. This can help solidify the experience and make it easier to look back on later.
6. Make it a Ritual: Try adding a gratitude walk to your weekly routine, allowing it to be a time for gentle reflection and appreciation. You’ll find it to be a powerful reset.
Share your experience with us using #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge! What did you notice? What brought you joy? Let’s inspire each other with the beauty and gratitude that surround us every day.

Day 8
Kindness to Yourself - Taking 30 Minutes to Recharge
Welcome to Day 8 of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge! Today’s theme is Kindness to Yourself, because sometimes, the most important person we can show kindness to is ourselves. Life moves fast, and while we spend so much time supporting others, it’s easy to forget our own needs. Today, let’s pause, breathe, and do something that nurtures us from the inside out.
Here are some simple ways to show yourself a little love in just 30 minutes:
1. Restorative Yoga
Find a quiet space and let your body relax with some restorative yoga. Try poses like Legs Up the Wall (a CoyDog favorite!) or Reclining Bound Angle Pose. All you need is a mat, a cozy blanket, and some soothing music (or silence if that feels right!). Allow yourself to sink into each pose and breathe deeply to release tension.
2. Mindful Meditation
Take 30 minutes to sit in stillness. Set a timer, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Let each inhale and exhale become a reminder to be present and let go of stress. If you’re new to meditation, don’t worry about “getting it right”—this is your time to unwind, however feels natural.
3. Journaling for Gratitude
Grab a notebook and list everything you’re grateful for. Reflect on the small moments of joy, kindness, and beauty in your life. You might even write a letter to yourself, celebrating all the things you love about who you are. Gratitude is one of the most powerful ways to lift our spirits and increase our sense of self-kindness.
4. Nature Walk
Head outside for a slow, mindful walk in nature. Leave your phone behind or on silent, and tune into the sights, sounds, and smells around you. Feel the earth under your feet, and let the fresh air refresh you. Sometimes, just 30 minutes in nature can provide a whole new perspective and a sense of peace.
5. Creative Expression
Pick up a pen, paintbrush, or any creative tool you love, and just let yourself play! No pressure, no judgment. Drawing, coloring, or writing poetry can be a wonderful way to reconnect with yourself and release pent-up emotions.
Taking a half-hour break may seem like a small thing, but it can be a powerful way to show yourself the kindness you deserve. Let’s continue building a more compassionate and peaceful world, starting with ourselves.
Enjoy your recharge time, and share your experience with us using #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge.
Remember: You’re worth every moment you give to yourself.
Day 7
Donate to a Food Bank
Today’s act of kindness invites us to make a tangible difference by donating to a food bank. It’s easy to take for granted the food on our tables, but for many, putting together a nutritious meal is a daily struggle. By supporting a food bank, we’re helping ensure families in our communities have access to healthy food, especially as the holiday season approaches when needs often increase.
Donating to a food bank is more than just giving food it’s giving hope and a sense of security. Many food banks accept monetary donations as well as non-perishable goods, which allows them to provide essentials that people might not always think to donate, like fresh produce and hygiene items. You could donate canned goods, boxed items, or even put together a few complete meal kits for a family.
Let’s take a moment today to reflect on the abundance in our own lives and share some of that abundance with others. Even a small donation can have a big impact and show that we’re all part of a bigger, supportive community. ❤️
Day 6
Cook or Bake for Someone Special
Welcome to Day 6 of our 30-Day Kindness and Gratitude Challenge! Today’s theme is all about sharing a little warmth and love from the kitchen. The task? Cook or bake something special for a friend, family member, or even a neighbor and watch how the simple act of sharing a meal can create a moment of pure connection.
Cooking for someone else is a beautiful expression of care and appreciation. It’s not about culinary perfection or fancy ingredients it’s about showing up with heart. Maybe it’s a batch of cookies for a friend who’s been going through a tough time or a comforting soup for a family member who could use a little extra warmth. Or perhaps you invite someone over to share a meal together, enjoying the simple but powerful feeling of community that comes with breaking bread.
Not a cook? No worries. Grab a favorite treat from a local bakery or put together a fresh fruit bowl. It’s the thought, the intention, that matters most. Today, let’s savor the small joys of giving and remind ourselves that kindness can be as simple (and delicious) as a shared meal.

Day 5
Write a Thank-You Note to Someone Who Made a Difference
Welcome to Day 5 of the CoyDog 30-Day Gratitude Challenge! Today’s focus is on a powerful and often underestimated gesture: expressing thanks to someone who has impacted your life. While gratitude journals and quiet reflection are meaningful, taking time to tell someone directly how much they mean to you can have an even more lasting effect for both of you.
Why Write a Thank-You Note?
In our fast-paced world, we rarely pause to tell the people we appreciate how much they’ve affected us. But a simple note of thanks can create a ripple effect, strengthening bonds, deepening connections, and maybe even lifting someone’s spirits on a difficult day. Sharing gratitude is not only a gift to others but a way to nurture our own hearts and deepen our awareness of life’s beautiful moments.
Who Should You Thank?
Think about someone who has gone out of their way for you. This person could be:
-
A family member who’s shown unwavering support, even when you were at your lowest
-
A friend who’s been there through thick and thin, cheering you on without hesitation
-
A teacher or mentor whose guidance changed the course of your life
-
A colleague who offered a helping hand or a word of encouragement when you needed it most
It doesn’t have to be someone you know well! Even a stranger who was kind to you in a moment of need is worthy of gratitude.
How to Craft Your Thank-You Message
Here’s a framework to guide your message:
1. Start with a Warm Greeting
Use a simple greeting to set a warm tone. “Hi [Their Name]” or “Dear [Their Name],” keeps it personable.
2. State Your Purpose
Begin by saying that you just wanted to let them know how grateful you are for the impact they’ve made. Sometimes a short sentence like, “I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much your support has meant to me” can set the tone perfectly.
3. Be Specific
Recall a specific moment or quality that you appreciate about them. For example, “When I was struggling to find my footing, you reminded me of my strengths and helped me see possibilities I couldn’t see on my own.”
4. Acknowledge the Difference They Made
Describe how their actions or presence positively affected you. You could say, “Your kindness showed me that I wasn’t alone,” or “Your advice encouraged me to try something new, which has made such a difference in my life.”
5. Close with Warmth
Conclude with a warm closing. Even something simple like “Thank you for being you” can mean a lot.
Example Note:
Hi [Their Name],
I just wanted to say thank you for the impact you’ve had on my life. You may not realize it, but the support you gave me when I was navigating [specific challenge] helped me more than I can say. Your encouragement gave me the strength to keep going and reminded me that I was capable of more than I believed. Thank you for always being there for me I’m grateful every day that our paths crossed.
With all my heart, thank you.
Sharing Your Thanks in a Different Way
If you’re not comfortable with a handwritten note or email, you could express your gratitude in other ways. You might leave a voicemail, send a video message, or plan a time to tell them in person. The medium isn’t as important as the message itself.
Enjoy this exercise in gratitude it’s a beautiful way to create a moment of connection and brighten someone’s day. And who knows? They may feel inspired to pass the kindness on.
Day 4
Share a Smile
“Your smile is contagious! Share it freely today with everyone you meet.”
It sounds simple, but the power of a smile is something we often overlook. Smiling isn’t just a reflex; it’s a signal that resonates, connecting us in ways we may not even notice.
Today, as part of the #CoyDogGratitudeChallenge, we’re encouraging you to share your smile with those around you, spreading kindness in a way that only takes a second but can have lasting effects.
Why Smiling Matters
Research shows that when you smile, it not only lifts your mood but also lowers stress levels and blood pressure. Smiling releases endorphins, which naturally boost happiness and relieve pain. Even if you don’t feel like smiling, the very act can trick your brain into feeling happier a phenomenon called the “facial feedback hypothesis.”
When you smile at someone, they’re likely to smile back (thanks to our brain’s mirror neurons), creating a ripple effect of positivity. This small act can brighten someone’s day, lighten their stress, or remind them of the good that exists in the world, even if only for a moment. Imagine what happens when we intentionally share this small but mighty gesture with everyone we meet!
Tips to Share Your Smile Today
-
Greet the cashier or barista with a smile. Even if they’re busy, a smile acknowledges their effort and creates a moment of connection.
-
Smile at someone who looks like they’re having a rough day. You might just be the light they need at that moment.
-
Smile at yourself in the mirror. Self-compassion is a powerful thing. Start your day with a smile to yourself; it’ll help you pass that energy to others.
By sharing your smile, you’re not only making a positive impact on others, but you’re also building a habit of choosing positivity.
